-1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
-1/2 cup of granulated sugar
-3 tablespoons cornmeal
-1 teaspoon baking powder
-a dash of salt -1/2 cup of buttermilk
-1 egg
-1 tablespoon oil or melted butter
Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. layer a 9x13 inch pan with 1/2 cup of the batter, followed by 2 tablespoons melted butter. Repeat these layers twice more, ending with the butter. Sprinkle vanilla extract over the top. If you soak the cornbread in buttermilk before cooking, it will keep it moist. I would suggest letting it soak for 15 to 20 minutes before baking. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the bread is golden brown on top and brown on the bottom. Allow cooling in the pan before slicing and serving.
